This Indenture maid this Seventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and three between Samuel Herring of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and Jesse Reaves of the County of Duplin of the other part Witnesseth that I Samuel Herring for and in consideration of the sum of Ninety Pounds fifteen Shillings to him in hand well and truly paid by the sd Jesse Reaves the receipt & payment whereof He doth hereby acknowledge himself to be therewith fully satisfied Contented & paid have given granted bargained & sold and do by these presents give grant bargain & Sell unto the unto the sd Jesse Reaves his Heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land Containing thirty nine acres of Seated lying and being in the State of North Carolina & County of Wayne near the head of brooks swamp beginning at a Hickrey a small pine & a black oak running South forty nine pole to a Stake upon Thomas Browns line thence West to to (sic) Stephen Reaves have line thence forty nine poles to a Stake thence a Stake line to the beginning to have and to hold the sd lands and premises unto him the sd Jesse Reaves his Heirs & assigns forever together with all & singular lands and premises and all the previledges and tenements unto the same belonging & in any wise appertaining to the sd Samuel Herring do hereby Covenant promise and agree for himself his Heirs Executors & administrators do warrant and defend from all person or persons whatever shall lay any lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatever the tax due or which may become due to the State only excepted in full Testimony whereof the sd Samuel Herring here unto set his hand and fixed his Seal the day & year above written Signed sealed & delivered in presents of us
