Richard Allen Shff Deed to George Reves 150 acres.This Indenture made 3rd day of March A.D. 1804 between Richard Allen Shff of Wilks County & State of North Carolina of the one part, & George Reves of Ashe County & State foresaid of the other part Witnesseth, that the said Richard Allen Shff by virtue of an execution directed by the Clerk of the County of Wilks foresaid recovered against Theophilus Evans, Charles Gordon Jnr. For the sum twenty pounds, Together with three pounds fourteen Shillings & one penny cost, did on the day of July in the year 1799 proceed to sell the land & premises hereafter mentioned as possession hath therefrom legally been taken by the said Richard Allen Shff as will appear by refance (reference?) to the papers filed in the Clerk’s office relative thereto then in a fair & open manner did — to sd. The sd. Land & premises hereafter to be bargained & Sold to him the sd. George Reves with all the Appertainances (sic) therewith belonging, which was the property of the aforesaid Theophilus Evans & the said George Reves by his agent did on the above day bid for the Said land and premises the Sum of (blank) pounds four Shillings & was the highest bidder for the same Now this Indenture witnesseth that he the sd. Richard Allen Shff doth hereby acknowledge, & in presents of the act of Assembly in this State making lands liable further payment of debts, hath bargained & Sold, conveyed & confirmed, and by these presents doth freely, clearly & absolutely grant bargain, Sell, convey, & confirm unto him the said George Reves his heirs and assigns forever the aforesaid tract of land containing one hundred & fifty acres be the Same more or less lying in Ashe County aforesaid on both sides of Little Elk Creek of New River, begining at a Spanish oak on the West side of said Creek William Hills corner, running west forty Eight poles to a white oak in Hills line thence North one hundred & twenty Six Poles to a Chestnut oak, then East one hundred & sixty seven Poles to a Stake in his old line, then to first Station, Together with every right, title, privilege & emolument to the said land belonging or in any wise appertaining thereto & he the said Richard Allen Shff doth hereby bind himself his heirs, Executors, & Administrators &c well and truly warrant & defend the said land & premises with all their Appertainances (sic) to him the Said George Reves his heirs & assigns forever in as full & ample a manner as he the Said Richard Allen Shff by virtue of his office is capable of doing as in persuance of Assembly of this State as before mentioned. In witness whereof the said Richard Allen Shff hath hereunto set his hand and Seal, the day above written,
