This Indenture made this 13th day of April in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and seven between Frederick Rives and George Rives of the one part and William A Burwell of the County of Franklin and State of Virginia of the other Witnesseth that the said Frederick and George Rives, in consideration of the sum of one Thousand pounds lawful money of Virginia, the payment of which is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold and confirmed unto the said William A Burwell a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Franklin on both sides of Glass Creek a branch of Pigg river and bounded as follow Beginning at a White oak in the head of a hollow, thence N84 West 31 poles to a white oak, near a branch thence down the branch as it meanders to the Creek and crossing the Creek to pointers on the west side of said Creek S43 West 230 po to pointers on Hughes line N West 16 poles to a white oak N 74 West 72 poles to the road, thence with same N68 west 4 78 poles to a post oak thence N4 West 170 poles to a white oak 2 43 East 66 po to a post oak N ... E 566 po to Pointers on the old order line (Whitton's) thence S 210 po to the Beginning, containing by Survey sixteen hundred and eighty acres be the same more or less being the land originally given by Frederick Rives to his son George Rives, the reservation of part of which then made, is now relinquished to the said Wm A Burwell with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging. To have and to hold the above granted premises with the appurtenances unto the said William A Burwell to his heirs and assigns forever and the said Frederick and George Rives and for their heirs assigns &c do further covenant and agree to end with the said William A Burwell his heirs assigns &c the above granted land and premises, with the appurtenances against the the claim or title of all or any person or persons whatsoever, shall and will by these presents warrant and defend forever to his own proper use. At a Court held for Franklin County June 1st 1807
The Indenture of bargain and sale between George Rives of the one part, and William A. Burwell of the other part, was proved by the oath of Burwell Rives a witness hereto, and afterwards to wit, at a Court held for said County December 5th 1808. The said Indenture was further proved by the oath of William Amos another witness hereto. And at a Court held for said County August 6th 1810. The said Indenture was acknowledged by the said George Rives and ordered to be recorded.
