This Indenture made & entered into this 17th day of September 1812 between William Utley of the County of Cumberland & State of No Carolina of the one part & John Reaves of the County of Wayne & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the Sum of Two Thousand five hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by the said Reaves, and before the Signing of these presents the receipt & payment whereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained & Sold in open market & in due form of Laws two Different tracts or parcels of land lying & being in the County aforesaid including the lands & Plantation whereon I now, live both tracts included within the bounds following, Beginning at a Black Jack in Stephen Senters old line then So 76 Chains to a red oak then Et 22.50 links to a pine in Burts line (formerly Johnstons) then at that line No 12.30 links to a post oak the corner then as the other line E 33.25 links to a post oak the other corner then as the other line So 2.60 links to a post oak in Laniers (?) line then as that line Et 90 chains to a Stake & pointers in Burts line then as that line No 20 Chains to the Corner, then No 20 Et 32 Chs to Bookers corner then as his line No 75 W 49 Chains to a Stake in Bookers other line of 300 acres patented by Folson (?) then as that line — 20 W 32.50 links to the corner then as the other line No 70 W 100 Chains to the Beginning Containing eight hundred acres more or less one of the above tracts patented by Robert Cobbs 13th of October 1783 the other tract patented in the name of William Utley Senr bearing date 17th day of Octr 1796 to have to hold the said bargained lands & premises to him the said John Reaves his heirs or assigns with all ways woods waters & water courses and every of its members and I the said William Utley for myself, my heirs executors and administrators & assigns do forever quit all right title interest claim & demand to in & upon the above lands & premises, we likewise Warrant & Forever defend the Same from any right title interest claim & demand to on & upon the above lands & premises from the right of any person whatsoever having any claim or demand thereto for any part thereto & from every kind of incumbrances whatsoever unto him the said John Reaves his heirs executors administrators & assigns forever as a free & clear estate in fee Simple. In Testimony whereof I the said William Utley have hereunto set my hand & Seal the day & date first written.
