This Indenture made and entered into in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen on the 8th April of the same year. Between Thomas Bell Junr. Of the county of Chatham and State of North Carolina of the one part and Jesse Horton and Benjamin Horton of the County and State aforesaid as agents and attorneys for George Reaves (sic) of the County of Hancock State of Georgia of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jesse and Benjamin Horton agent and attorney as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum three hundred and Sixty five dollars to us in hand paid by the said Thomas Bell before the signing and sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Jesse and Benjamin Horton as agents and attorneys as aforesaid doth hereby acknowledge themselves fully satisfied and paid hath given granted bargained and Sold enfeoffed unto the said Thomas Bell three tracts of or parcels land situated lying and being in the County and State first above Mentioned and on the East side of New Hope Creek and on the South side of White oak Creek and in the fork of Adams Branch and New Hope Creek the first tract of land Beginning at the South side of White Oak Creek Elisha Cains old line thence with said line Cains and Jones line South two hundred and eighteen and a half poles to a red oak and pine on the said Jones’s corner on Adams Branch thence down the various courses of said branch to the Mouth of New Hope thence up the various courses of said Creek to the Mouth of White Oak Creek thence up said Creek to the beginning. The second tract or parcel of land adjoining the said tract on the East side of the above mentioned tract Beginning on Adams branch on a red oak and pine said Jones’s corner thence East one hundred and twenty Six and a half poles to a pine and small post oak thence North one hundred and twenty six and a half poles to a large pine in the edge of the low grounds of White Oak thence West one hundred and twenty six and a half poles to a pine South one hundred and twenty six pole and a half to the beginning. The third tract or parcel of land Beginning at a Gum the South side of White Oak Creek running South ninety two pole to a pine the corner of the second named tract thence East up the named line of the second tract one hundred and twenty Six and a half pole to a pine thence North one hundred and one pole to a pine in Elisha Cains line thence West thirty and a half poles to a pine thence North forty two poles to a Willow Oak and Sassafras on the bank of said White Oak Creek thence down the various courses of said White Oak Creek to the beginning. Containing in all three tracts two hundred and ninety two acres be the same more or less to have and to (sic) the said three tracts of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said Thomas Bell for his heirs Executors Adms. or assigns forever we the said Benjamin and Jesse Horton agents and attorneys of George Reaves (sic) do warrant and for ever defend the right and title of the above named tracts of land to Thomas Bell his heirs and assigns for ever free from the claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof we said Benjamin and Jesse Horton agents and attorneys of George Reaves hath hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals the day and date first written.
