This Indenture made and entered into this Thirtieth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight-hundred and eighteen Between John Herriford of the County of Franklin and State of Tennessee of the one part, and Abner Reeves of the County and State aforesaid of the other part; Witnesseth, The Said John Herriford for and in consideration of the Sum of Twelve hundred dollars to him paid in hand by the Said Abner Reeves, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given, granted, bargained, Sold, aliened, conveyed, & confirmed unto the Said Abner Reeves his heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of land Situated and being in the County of Franklin and in the State aforesaid and on the North Side of Elk River, containing Three hundred thirty-three acres and eight acres poles, and bounded as follows; Beginning on the North bank of Elk River near McCurd’s ford near an Elm and H∗∗ (?) Bean, marked three chops, and blazed running North Two hundred & thirty-poles to a Post-Oak, Thursbys line, Thence West with that-line Two hundred and Six poles to a Black Oak, Thence South Five and a half East Two hundred and twenty-eight poles to a Walnut Thence South Fifty-four East, Twenty five poles, Thence North Seventy Seven East - Thirty-eight poles, North Twenty three East - One hundred and four poles North Fifty-two East - Forty poles, Thence South Seventy three East - Thirty-poles to the beginning, As being a part of a tract of Land Lived on as the property of George Richmond and Sold by Nathaniel Hunt - Sheriff of Franklin County, and bid off by Francis Jones as will fully appear by indence (sic) bearing date, the 13th day of February 1816 To have and to hold the above described tract of land together with all and Singular, the right, profits, emoluments, heriditaments and appertanences (sic), of in and to the Same belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him Said Abner Reeves his heirs and assigns forever, and the Said John Herriford for his Self his heirs Executors Administrators, Covenant and agree to and with the Said Abner Reeves, his heirs and there the before recited tract of Land and bargained premises he will warrant and forever defend against the rights title interest or claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever In Testement thereof the Said John Herriford hath hereunto Set his hand and affixed his Seal the first-above written; Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of us,
