THIS INDENTURE made this Sixth day of January 1820 between Avery Reaves of the County of the County (sic) of Franklin & State of Tennessee of the one part & John Sanders of the County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Avery Reaves for & in Consideration of the sum of three hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Sanders the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold & delivered & confirmed by these presents doth grant bargain sell & confirm unto the said John Sanders his heirs & assigns forever a part of a tract of land Originally granted by the State of Tennessee to John Gordon as for patent bearing date 1811 & number 2842 lying & being in the County of Franklin & State aforesaid and on the waters of Beanes Creek of Elk river Beginning upon a Small black oak divides a Small line between Reeves and John Dunnsal (?) running thence East 120 poles to a white oak thence South 50 poles to a maple thence west 160 poles to a dogwood on said line thence North 50 poles to the Beginning Containing fifty acres To have & to hold the land hereby conveyed with all & Singular the premises and appurtenances & every part thereof unto the John Sanders his heirs & assigns forever and the said Avery Reaves for himself & his heirs & Executors doth Covenant promise & agree to & with the said John Sanders to warrant & forever defend the before bargained premises with all its appurtenances from any lawful Claim Whatsoever In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & year first above written

Franklin County         §       Then the within deed of conveyance frm Avery Reaves to John Sanders for fifty acres was duly proven in open Court by the oath of Edmon Ogletree & James Cox witnesses thereto & Ordered to be registered.

Note

John Sanders was the husband of Ruth Reeves presumed sister of Avery Reeves. Avery was bondsman for their 15 Sep 1795 marriage in Wake County, North Carolina.
