Transcription

Know all men by these presents that I Bennett Reeves of the County of Wilkes and State of Georgia for and in consideration of the love and affection that I have for my Son In law John Rich of the County of Elbert and said State who has lately intermarried with my youngest daughter, now Margarite Rich, formerly Margarite Rich (sic Reeves), and for and in consideration of the Sum of two dollars to me in hand paid by the said John Rich the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do give & freely grant to the said John Rich the following Negro Boy Viz Sam about nine or ten years of age of black complexion which said Negro Boy same, I do hereby warrant, and defend to the said John Rich and assigns forever that the said John Rich shall let this said Bennett Reeves and his wife Anna have the use or profit of the said Boy Sam during their natural lives for their Support & maintainance (sic). In Witness whereof the said Bennett Reeves has hereunto Set his hand & Seal the 1st day of November 1820.
