Transcript

This Indenture made this eight day of February in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Twenty Three between Joshua Ham of the County of Bedford and State of Tennessee of the one Part and Isham Reaves of the County & State aforesaid of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Joshua Ham for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred Dollars in hand paid by the said Isham Reaves the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained sold alined conveyed and conferred & conveyed unto the said Isham Reaves his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County aforesaid on both sides of Duck river Beginning at an Ash & two Boxelding in William Newsoms South boundary line Running thence west with said line thirty and one half pole and one link to an elm hickory and cedar thence South crossing Duck River in all two hundred and nine and one half poles to an Ironwood (?) Beam and ash thence East thirty and one half poles one link to a stake thence North crossing Duck River In all two hundred and nine and one half poles to the beginning containing by estimation Forty Acres of Land
To Have and to hold the aforesaid bargained land and premises unto him the sd Isham Reaves his heirs and assigns forever and the said Joshua Ham for himself his heirs executors and Administrators and assigns doth covenant and agree to and with the said Reaves that the before released land and bargained premises I will warrant and forever defend the same from myself my heirs executors and administrators and from all and every person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming the same
           In witness whereof I the said Joshua Ham Have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written

           I James McKesuk Clerk of the Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions of the County aforesaid dohereby certify that the Execution of the within Deed of Conveyance from Joshua Ham to Isham Reaves was Proven in open court by the paths of Edwd Wade and Alixander Eaken two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be so certified Given under my hand at office this 16th day of April 1823
