The State of South Carolina
Chester District
Know all men by these presents that Jacob Cherry of Kershaw District Planter in the State aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of two thousand one hundred fifteen dollars to me paid by John G Rieves of Fairfield District in the state aforesaid Planter, I have granted, bargained sold and released & by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said John G Rieves all that bottom of my plantation or tract of land containing nine hundred & sixty six acres be the same more or less situate in the District of Fairfield on Lykes creek a drain of Sauneys creek & waters of Wateree River bounded on the north Whitakers lands & Ross land on the East by Harrison's Land & Reeves Land on the south by Beltons Lands & others on the west by lands unknown -
Together with all and singular the rights, members, hereditaments and appurtenances, to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining to have and to hold all and singular the premises beforementioned unto the said John G Rieves his heirs and assigns forever. And I do hereby bind myself & my heris executors and administrators to warrant & forever defend all & singular the said premises unto the said John G Rieves his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs forever - Lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. Witness my hand and seal this ninth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six & in the fifth year of the independence of the united States of America.

I David Scrock Notary Public and Justice of the Quorum in & for the said District do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern that Mary Cherry the wife of the within Jacob Cherry did this day appear before me & upon being privately and separately examined by me did declare that she does freely voluntarily & without any compulsion dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever renounce release and forever relinquish unto the within named John G Rieves his heirs & assigns all her interest and estate and also all her claim & right of Dower of in and to all and singular the premises within mentioned and released. Given under my hand and seal this 12th of January AD 1826.

Personally appeared David Cherry and made oath that he saw Jacob Cherry sign, seal and deliver the above conveyance, for the uses & purposes therein mentioned; and that he with Henry Aaron in presence of each other witnessed the due execution thereof.
