Transcript

Know all men by these presents that I Willis Reaves for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid by John A Marrs of Shelbyville Bedford County have sold transferred and delivered unto the sd John A Marrs the following property to wit one Burrow three pare (sic) of corned (sic curved) Bedsteads two beds & furniture one cusping stand one folding haf? Table one Side Saddle one set of chairs one pot one oven one kettle Together with his kitchen & cuppoard furniture also two trunks & two cows & calves to him & his heirs forever and the sd Willis Reeves for himself his heirs &c doth Covenant to and with the said John A Marrs that the before recited property I will warrant and forever defend against the right tile property & claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever provided nevertheless and upon the following conditions & trust, that is to say that Whereas the said Willis Reaves is now fully indebted to the said John Marrs in the sum of one Hundred Dollars now if the sd Willis Reaves shall well and truly pay the sd John A Marrs said sum of one Hundred Dollars with legal interest untill paid on or by the first day of August 1828 then this obligation to be void and of no effect and said property to be and remain the property of the said Reeves But should said Reeves not pay said sum of One Hundred Dollars With interest as aforesaid the sd property to ret in the sd Marrs and be by him exposed to publick sale by the Auction of the Town of Shelbyville or any other byers (sic buyers) he may pleas and by sold at a credit of Ninety day the purchaser giving bond & surety and the balance After paying said debt & Interest to remain in the hands of said Reeves subject to the order of sd Reeves or legal process, it is further agreed and understood that said Reeves is to remain in possession of said property untill the first day of August 1828 unless said Marrs should be disposed sooner to take the same into his possession from any cause whatever.
