Know all men by these presents that for and in consideration of the sum of six dollars to me in hand paid as well as for the better securing of David Jackson of the County of Green and State aforesaid in the sum of sixteen hundred and forty seven dollars and twenty four cents due him by me in forty promissory notes, thirty eight, thirty dollar notes, one two Hundred and fourteen dollar note dated in the sixteenth of February, eighteen hundred and twenty eight, and on the first day February next and the other for two hundred and ninety three dollars and twenty five cents, dated the third of August, eighteen hundred and twenty six, due on the twentyfifth of December eighteen hundred and twenty six thereafter, I Irwin Reaves of the and County and State aforesaid do hereby bargain and sell unto the said Daivd Jackson his heirs and assigns four hundred and ninety acres of land joining Green Cato and others and three negroe men slaves for life by the names of Bob Arter and Dave, the right and title to said land and negroes I do hereby warrant and forever defend unto the said David Jackson his heirs & from me my heirs and assigns and from all others persons claiming the same the condition of this mortgage is such that I Irwin Reaves has given his forty promisory notes for sixteen hundred and forty seven dollars and twenty five cents to David Jackson.
Now, if the said Irwin Reaves shall well and truly pay off each of said notes and all of them when they shall fall due, then this mortgage to null and void otherwise to remain in full force and vested in witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13th day of March 1828
