This Indenture made this 21st day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four between Thomas Wilson and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Halifax and State of Virginia of the one part, and Elijah Reves (sic Reaves) of the same County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Thomas Wilson & Elizabeth his wife doth for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Elijah Reves (sic Reaves) at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Thomas Wilson and Elizabeth his wife doth hereby acknowledge hath given, granted, bargained, sold and confirmed, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Elijah Reaves his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land, situate lying and being in the County aforesaid South of Dan river on back side (?) of the main road leading from the Red house to Easlings Store and bounded by the lands of Winkfield Hoverton, James Harris Senr, John Smith and the said Elijah Reaves and containing by estimation fifty acres be the same more or less with all the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders with all and every other priviledge (sic) themselves belonging or in ways appertaining. To have and to hold all and singular the land and premises above mentioned with the appurtenances unto the said Elijah Reaves his heirs and assigns. To his and their only proper use and behoof forever, and the said Thomas Wilson and Elizabeth his wife their heirs and assigns doth further covenant and agree to and with the said Elijah Reaves that at the time of sealing and delivery of these presents they stand Seized and possessed of a good and lawful right in and to said land and hath full power and authority to sell and convey the same in manner and form aforesaid and that against the claim of all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and by these presents forever defend.. In witness whereof the said Thomas Wilson & Elizabeth his wife hath hereunto Set their hands and affixed their seals the day & year first above written ~
