Lancaster District         } Know all men by these presents that I Sterling Horton of Lancaster District & State aforesaid for & in consideration of the sum of Eight Hundred & Eighteen Dollars & 62 cts to me paid by James Reaves of the same Dist & State have bargained sold released & relinquished a certain tract or parcel of land situate on both sides of the South prong of Little Lynches Creek containing four hundred &seventy five acres Beginning at a Black oak on the Bank of said Creek thence W 25 E 19.50 to post oak thence N 30 W 56.50 to stake, thence S 28 W 51 to a dogwood, thence cross said creek to post oak thence 77 E 16.45 to pine hence N 86 E 45 to sourwood thence N 44 E 51.50 to pine station thence E 51.50 to oak thence cross the creek to the Beginning corner to have and to hold all & singular the rights & members & all the appurtenances in anywise belonging to the above named tract or parcel of land & I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors Admrs & assigns to warrant & forever defend the above named tract or parcel of land against myself my heirs Executors Admrs or any other person or persons lawfully claiming the same or any part thereof unto the said Jas Reaves his heirs Excrs Admrs & assigns - Witness whereunto I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal the 5th day of Jany

Lancaster District         } I Thos Twitty one of the Justices of the quorum for said District do hereby certify to all whom it may concern that the wife of the within named Sterling Horton did this day appear before me and upon being privately and separately examined by me did declare that she did freely & voluntarily without any compulsion dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever renounce release & forever relinquish all her Interest & estate and also all her right claim and dower of in the all and singular the within premises mentioned & relinquished
