Transcript

This indenture made this fifth day of Feb 1836 between Elijah Reeves and Mary his wife of the one part and Israel Harget of the other part all of the County of Fleming and State of Kentucky Witnesseth that the said Elijah Reeves and wife for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged granted and bargained and sold, and hereby releases and conveys unto the said Harget his heirs and assigns; all that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the county of Fleming on the waters of Fox Creek containing fifty acres and bounded as follows to wit; Beginning at a poplar beech and white oak, corner to J Thomas then west 80 poles to a beech and four sycamores in Penland line thence south 60 East 82 poles to a hicory and white oak thence south 68 1/2 east 60 poles to three white oaks thence north 36 1/4 East 84 poles to a chesnut hicory and gum then with a straight line to the beginning.
To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed, and the appurtenances thereto belonging unto the said Harget his heirs & assigns forever. And the said Reaves and wife for themselves their heirs &c hereby agree to warrant and defend the said tract of land and premises unto the said Harget his heirs and assigns the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming under or by them and not from any claim of any other person under a previous claim in witness whereof the said Elijah Reeves and Mary his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals day and date above written.

Fleming County Set February 4th 1836
I Leom Stocktoon Deputy of the Fleming County Court do certify that this deed from Elijah Reaves and Mary Reaves his wife to Israel Harget was this day prodiced before me and acknowledged by said Elijah Reaves to be his act and deed and said Mary his wife being by me examined privily and apart from her husband declared that she freely and willingly sealed and delivered said writing and wished not to retract it and acknowledged said writing again shown and expaiined to be her act and deed and consenteth that the same may be recorded which with this certificate is done.
