Transcript

This Indenture made this 4th day of December on thousand eight hundred & thirty seven between Hugh Forgey of the one part and William R Reaves of the other part both of the county of Maury and State of Tennessee that for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty five Dollars to him in hand paid by the said William R Reaves the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained granted and sold & by these presents do bargain grant and sell unto the said William R Reaves a certain lot or parcel of land situated and lying in the County and State aforesaid on the waters of beach creek a branch of Snow creek bounded as follows (viz) Beginning at a rock on main street the SW corner of James Caughrans half acre lot thence running west five poles to a rock thence south eight poles to a rock thence East five poles to James Caughrons south W corner - thence north eight poles to the beginning containing one fourth of an acre to have and to hold the said lot or parcel of land and bargained premises and the said Hugh Forgey doth for himself his heirs assigns executors & Administrators warrant and forever defend against the claims of any and every other person or persons whomsoever unto the said W R Reaves his heirs assigns executors & administrators given under my hand and seal this day and date above written (signed in presents of us)

Maury County} Personally appeared before me William E Erwin Clerk of the County Court of Maury County the within named Hugh Forgey the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he executed the within for the purposes therein contained - Witness my hand at office 1st day of January 1838
