Filed for record June 5th 1847 at 10 Oclock AMThis Indenture Made the Thirteenth day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and forty seven Between Joseph R Kirkpatrick and Lucretia his wife of the County Rush and State of Indiana of the first part and John Reeves of the County of Hancock and State of Indiana of the Second Part Witnesseth that the said Party of the First Part in Consideration of the Sum of four hundred and twenty Dollars to them in hand paid by the said Party of of the Second Part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Have Granted Bargained Sold Conveyed and confirmed And by these presents do Grant Bargain Sell Convey And Confirm unto the said Party of the Second Part his Heirs and Assignes Forever the following described Real Estate lying in the County of Hancock and State of Indiana to wit all that tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Hancock and State aforesaid and bounded as follows to wit Being the Middle third of the North half of Section No Nine in Township No Sixteen North of Range No Eight East in the district of Lands Subject to sale at Indianapolis Indiana Containing one hundred and Six acres be the same more or less
To Have and to Hold the Said premises with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the Said party of the Second part his Heirs and assignes Forever Hereby Covenanting that the Title so conveyed is clear free and unincumbered and Further that the Said Joseph R Kirkpatrick his Heirs Executors and administrators will warrant and forever Defend the same to the Said Party of the second Part his Heirs and assignes against all legal Claims whatsoever in witness whereof the said Joseph R Kirkpatrick and Lucretia Kirkpatrick his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written

BEFORE ME Jabez Reeves a Justice of the peace within and for said County personally came Joseph R Kirkpatrick and Lucretia Kirkpatrick his the wife of the Said Joseph R Kirkpatrick Being by me examined Seperate and apart from and without the hearing of her said husband and the full contents and purport of the above Deed being fully made known and explained to her she acknowledged that She Executed the same and Relinquished her Right of Dower therein of her own voluntary Free Will and accord without any coertion or compulsion from her husband
The Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this 13th day of January 1847Jabez Reeves

Rush County SS I John L Robinson Clerk of the Circuit Court in and for Rush County in the State of Indiana hereby Certify that John Reeves (does he mean Jabez Reeves?) before whom the within & foregoing Deed was acknowledged & whose signature attached thereto is genuine was at the time of taking said acknowledgment and still is a Justice of the peace in and for said County of Rush duly Elected commissioned & qualified according to law and that free faith and credit are due and of right ought to be given for all his acts as such Justice as aforesaid
