Transcript

Know All Men By These Presents, that I Presly Reeves in the State aforesaid, in the sum of forty eight dollars to me paid by John Perry of Kershaw District in the State aforesaid, have granted, bargained, sold, and sold, and released, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and release unto the said John Perry all my interest in two separate tracts of land lying near Liberty Hill in Kershaw District formerly owned by John Clanton Senr Containing six acres, more or less, one tract containing one hundred and seventy seven acres, and a half the other tract thirty two and a half, all my interest in the two tracts resurveyed by C. C. Haile. Together with all and singular the rights members, hereditaments, and appurtanances, to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining, To Have and to Hold, all and Singular the premises before mentioned unto the said John Perry his heirs and assigns forever. And I do hereby bind my heirs executors, and Administrators to Warrant and forever defend, and all and singular the said premises unto the John Perry, and his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and all other persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. Witness my hand and seal, (blank) Eight hundred and (blank) the third day of Sept in the year of our Lord one thousand fifty three in the seventy eight year of the Independence of the United States of America.

Kershaw District                  } I Henry Brace on of the Justice of the peace do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern that Milly Reives the wife of the within named Pressly Reives did this day appear before me, and upon being privately and separately examined by me did declare, that she did freely voluntarily & without any compulsion dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever, renounce release and forever relinquish unto the within named John Perry his heirs and assigns, all her interest and estate, and also all her right, and claim of Dower, of in or to all singular the premises within mentioned and released. Given under my hand and Seal the 3d Sept 1853
