Suffolk County SS Be it known that at the Surrogate's Court held at the Surrogate's office in the town of Riverhead in said County on the 16th day of May 1867 Present George Miller Surrogate, the last will and testament of Daniel Reeve late of the town of Southold in the said County deceased was duly proved before the said Surrogate as a valid will of real and personal estate, which said will and proof are as follows:

I Daniel Reeve of Mattituck in the town of Southold in the County of Suffolk and State of New York being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last will and testament as follows, that is to say
I give devise and bequeath to my sister Amanda Terry and to my brother Richard Steers Reeve equally my home place where I now live together with the stock horses and cattle wagons sleighs farming utensils and all my corn, grains, sauce, including also such as may be planted and growing, at my decease, and all my fodder and provisions, and all the articles on my said home place which is connected with my farming operations - excepting my yellow mare but my sister Esther Reeve is to have a home and a living including her board and lodging in my dwelling house with my brother Richard Steers Reeve out of the part or share herein given to him - so long as my said sister remains single. I also give and devise to my said sister Amanda Terry and my brother Richard Steers Reeve my piece of meadlow lying near the mouth of Mattituck Creek.
I give and devise unto my sister Amanda Terry and Esther Reeve my piece of woodland lying North of Long Creek at Mattituck in the said town and County
I give and bequeath to my brother Henry Reeve my said yellow mare - I give and bequeath to my executors hereinafter named the sum of one thousand dollars in trust to invest the same and to receive the interest and to apply the same - together with so much of the principal as they may at any time think necessary and proper - to the use of my brother James H. Reeve during his natural life and at his decease I give and bequeath the residue thereof if any to the children of the said James H. Reeve
I give and bequeath to my sister Esther Reeve the sum of five hundred dollars - and the said home & living as before mentioned.
I give and bequeath the use of all my household furniture to my sister Esther so long as she remains in my house afterwards to Amanda & Richard Steers Reeve - I give and bequeath to my Nephew Andrew Cox the son of Samuel Cox the sum of five hundred dollars and to Sarah Jane his wife I give and bequeath the sum of two hundred and ffity dollars.
I give and bequeath to my niece Anna Cox daughter of John Cox the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars.
I give and bequeath to Daniel Cox son of John Cox the sum of one hundred dollars.
I give and bequeath to James Cox son of Samuel Cox the sum one hundred dollars
After payment of all my just debts and expenses and the said legacies and also after paying such expenses as may be incurred in procuring suitable blinds for my dwelling house in case I shall not have procured the same previous to my decease - I give devise and bequeath all the remainder of my property to my sister Amanda Terry and Esther Reeve equally
I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my brother Henry Reeve and my brother in law Harvey Terry executors of this my last will and testament
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of March one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven

Commentary

The introduction to the probate misstates that probate year as 1867. Testimonies of witnesses give the date 1857.
