Transcript

Suffolk County SS Be it known that a Surrogate's Court held at the surrogate's office in the town of Riverhead in said County on the 28th day of October 1857 Present George Miller Surrogate the last will and testament of Phebe R. Reeve late of the town of Southold in said County deceased was duly proved before the Surrogate as a valid will of real and personal estate which said will and proofs are as follows:

I Phebe R Reeve of the town of Southold in the County of Suffolk and State of New York widow of James W. Reeve Esq deceased hereby make publish and declare my last will and testament as follows:
First I give and bequeath to my son James Reeve all his fathers wearing apparel the family clock, the portrait of himself - Matthew Henry's Commentaries on the scriptures, the blue closet in the backroom, the old family arm chair, the writing desk and the best coverlid - Also I give my said son James, one feather bed together with bedding comprising three pairs of sheets - three pairs of pillow cases two blankets one comforter with bolster, pillows, underbed, bedstead and cord, all to be of the second choice
Second I give and bequeath to each of the daughters of my said son James, her choice of one volume out of the family library
Third All the rest of the family library, all my silver spoons, both large and small, all my money in the Saving's bank & all other monies that I may have at the time of my decease, I give and bequeath to be equally divided among the children of my daughter Anna W. Gildersleeve and Miriam J. Osborn deceased
Fourth All the rest and residue of my household furniture, including the dairy furniture together with all my wearing apparel I give to my said daughter Anna W. Gildersleeve
Lastly I hereby appoint my said son James sole executor of this my last will and testament
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven

I Phebe R. Reeve of the town of Southold in the County of Suffolk & State of New York, do hereby revoke and make void so much of the third clause of my last will and testament as relates to the disposition of "all my money in the Saving's Bank, and all other moneys that I may have at the time of my decease" which said last will was made and executed by me on the eleventh day of this present month - And I hereby order and direct that instead of the said moneys going to the children of my daughters, as in the said third clause of my said last will provided, the said moneys shall go to the children of my son James Reeve and the children of my daughters Anna W. Gildersleeve and Miriam J. Osborn deceased - each one of my said grandchildren is to have an equal portion with the others
