Transcription

Know all men by these presents that we Frederick R. Lenox and Anoyetta A. Lenox his wife formerly Anoyetta A. Reeves widow of James M. Reeves Deceased and sole Executrix of the last will and testament of the said James M. Reeves Deceased citizens and residents of the County of Humphreys and State of Tennessee do hereby nominate constitute and appoint - our friend Henry McDaniel of the county of Orange and State of North Carolina our true and lawfull agent and attorney in fact for us and in our names to demand and receive from Thomas Webb, Clerk & Monitor of the Court of Equity for said County of Orange & State of North Carolina or from any other person or Persons who may have possession of or be liable for the Same all funds and moneys due to the estate of James M. Reeves Deceased late of Humphreys County & State of Tennessee in said Orange County from the estate of his Grand Father Hugh Currie Deceased late of said County of Orange State of North Carolina Whether the Same be a legacy from Said Estate to the said James M. Reeves Decd. or a distribution share or shares which descended to him the said James M. Reeves from both or either of said Estates of Hugh Currie & Frederick Reeves Decd. And all necessary receipts - bonds and acquitances for us and in our names to execute for and about the Same we do further empower our said attorney to Sue for and recover the Same or any part thereof whether the Same be moneys Chosen in actual real or personal Estate and for that purpose to make and employ one or more attorneys under him and to do all other lawfull acts and things necessary to accomplish the objects of this power We furthermore empower our said attorney to collect all funds and moneys which by right are due to and belong to said estate of James Reeves Decd from any person or persons in said County of Orange State of North Carolina from whatever Source the Same may have been derived and execute all necessary bonds receipts &c therefore in our names. We furthermore authorize our said attorney for us and in our names when said funds and moneys shall have been collected & received by him out of and with said funds to pay to the Brothers and Sisters of James Reeves Deceased who reside in Orange County aforesaid the Same of Ninety dollars it being the amount - going to them from the estate of Margaret Currie Deceased as is represented to us. And we hereby satisfy and confirm all the lawfull acts and doings of our said attorney in the premises in as full and ample a manner as if we were personally present and doing the same ourselves.

County of Humphreys §   This day personally appeared before me Levi McCollum Clerk of the County Court of said County and State Frederick R. Lenox and his wife Aneyetta A. Lenox formerly Anayetta A. Reeves with whom I am personally acquainted and who are the Same who signed and executed the within Power of Attorney to Henry McDaniel and who acknowledged that they executed the within and foregoing power of attorney to Henry McDaniel for the purpose therein expressed.
                In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Seal of said Court at office in the town of Waverly this the 28th day of April 1858

Humphreys County  §   Magistrate of the County Court of said County
Do hereby certify that Levi McCollum whose genuine signature appears to the foregoing certificate is now and was at the date thereof the duly elected qualified and acting Clerk of the County Court of said County and fully authorized by the law of said State to take the acknowledgement & probate of Deeds Powers of Attorney &c and that his attestation and Certification are in due form of Law and all his official acts as Clerk are entitled to full faith & credit. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & private seal there being no seal of office this 28th April 1858.

Humphreys County    §   I Levi McCollum Clerk of the County Court of said County do hereby Certifiy that Whitlow White whose signature appears to the within and foregoing Certificate is now and was at the date thereof the chairman and presiding Magistrate of the County Court of said County of Humphreys duly elected and qualified and that his Certificate and attestation are in due form of Law and all his official acts as such as entitled to full faith & credit; In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court at office this the 28th day of April A.D. 1858

The foregoing Power of Attorney was offered for probate in open Court and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court that said Power of Attorney had been duly acknowledged as appears from the Certificates thereunto annexed it is therefore ordered to be registered together with the certificates thereto annexed.
