Transcription
This Deed made this the 20th day of December 1862 between Geo D Reaves and Mary his wife of the one part and William H. Hudgins of the other part all of the County of Halifax and State of Virginia. Witnesseth that the said Geo D. Reaves and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one Thousand Dollars in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the said William H. Hudgins the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Geo D. Reaves and Mary his wife doth grant bargain & sell unto the said Wm. H. Hudgins a certain tract or Parcel of land lying & being in the county of Halifax and on the waters of Deep Bottom Creek and bounded as follows on the North & East by the lands of William Edwards on the south by the land of Charles R. Cherbiville and on the west by the land of Robert --ide (?) and commonly known as the Midkiff tract Supposed to contain thirty acres more or less and That they the said Geo. D. Reaves and Mary his wife for themselves their heirs viz doth warrant the right & title to the said Wm H. Hudgins his heirs and assigns against the claims of all persons whatsoever Witness the following signatures and seals this the day and date above written.George D. Reaves (Seal)

Halifax County to wit
I, L. W. Cherbiville a Justice of the Peace for the county aforesaid in the state of Virginia do certify that Geo D. Reaves whose name is signed to the within Deed bearing date on the 20th day of December 1862 has acknowledged the same before me in my county aforesaid. Given under my hand this the 20th day of December 1862.

The within written deed was presented in the clerk’s office aforesaid and upon certificates therein ordered admitted to record according to law.
