Family Name, Given Names
My 3x's great grandfather was Walton James Reeves who was born Sept. 2, 1818 in Tennessee somewhere but I don't know where that would be because I'm not certain who his father is. He passed on at his daughter's house in Delhi, Beckham county, Oklahoma and was shipped to February 9, 1890 then his body was taken to Eastview, McNairy County, Tennessee. His daughter was my great grandma Narcissus Elizabeth Reeves who was born in Itawamba county, Ms., her mother was supposedly Mahala Jane Henderson however I have no DNA relation to that lady. Not only that Mahala .. no one is sure if that's her last name as I've seen Lewis, Maldin, Mauldin and Henderson and an interesting on Ancestry that has her parents as Bledsoe Deer Clan (father) Aniawi Deer clan (mother).
Bettie Reeves (Narcissus Elizabeth Reeves (married name was Lowry) told her children and grandchildren the same story I'm telling you who're reading this. That her mother's father was a Cherokee Indian related to Mary Powhaten who was a sister to Sequoyah (?). All my elder cousins have heard this same story, a lot of these cousins are on the Choctaw rolls, which I've combined over; I've enlisted the help of a Cherokee Indian genealogist however since we don't really have much information for a last name, where Mahala married Walton James Reeves .. the only children that I know of that my grandma Bettie was a direct descendent of was Walton James Reeves and Mahala.
I found this on findagrave.com with the picture of an elder woman who is supposed to me Mahala Reeves while also being Mahala Henderson the wife of Lorenzo Dow. It was merged by someone and this is what is written about her with out any mention of a Reeves connection. Here is the information listed on the merged profile by someone, Mahala was the daughter of William Martin "Billy" Beaver and Mary Rebekah "Polly" Hardcastle. She was born in Catawba River, North Carolina. At the age of nineteen on the 11th of February 1838, she married Lorenza Dow Henderson. They had the following children (in order of birth): James, Mary Jane, Benjamin, William, George Logan, Phobe, Mahala, Sarah, Emily, Margaret, and Adeline.
