Reeves DNA Project Updates - 2q 2024
We had just one new member joining the Reeves DNA Project at FtDNA during the second quarter of 2024 and the total current membership is now 454 (as of 30 June 2024).
So its been a very quiet quarter, but we are please to welcome Sunny who joined the project during April.
There are no Y-DNA test results for new members to share this quarter.
Those who attentively follow this quarterly update may be surprised by the lack of new Y-DNA results, as last quarter we indicated that "... there is one additional set of results for a new member currently being processed by FtDNA." We had received a DNA Donor consent related to this kit late in March, but what I hadn't realised at the time was that the order had only just been placed. The DNA sample was received by FtDNA in early June and the at-DNA results for this kit have just been published. The Y-DNA results however are still pending. At the end of June 2024 FtDNA are indicating that the processing time for a Family Finder is 3-4 weeks and for a Y-DNA test (excluding Big Y) is 3-6 weeks. See the FtDNA page "Test Results Processing Time" in their "Help Center" for current information. We are aware of another recent new Y-DNA test order by an existing project member.
As ever, we would encourage all new Y-DNA donors or their representatives to make contact and allow us to identify them within TRP.
Although we've seen only one new member join our project in the past quarter, there has been a steady stream of match notifications for existing members of our project, including 22 notifications of Y-37 matches and 11 Family Finder (at-DNA) match notifications.
During the past quarter we've seen no notifications for existing project members receiving new Big-Y results. There has been one new result for an existing project member's Family Finder test results and none from a new mt-DNA donor during the past quarter.
