Gloucestershire is in the south west of England, sitting astride the estuary of the River Severn. To its north east it is bordered by Warwickshire, to the east by Oxfordshire and Berkshire, to the south by Wiltshire and Somerset, to the west by the Severn Estuary and Monmouthshire, to the northwest by Herefordshire and to the north by Worcestershire.The county town is Gloucester. The city of Bristol was a part of this ancient historical county.
