Boldre, Hampshire


Location

Boldre lies in the south of the New Forest, extending approximately three miles inland from the Solent roughly bounded by the River Beaulieu and Boldre or Lymington River.

Parish Church

The Parish (CofE) Church is St. John the Baptist, Boldre, which can be found here on Google Street View.

Parish Registers

"A History of the County of Hampshire: Volume 4" (pub 1911) indicates a number of early registers as follows -

(1) baptisms and burials 1596 to 1621 and 1626 to 1756, marriages 1596 to 1622 and 1627 to 1753;
(2) baptisms and burials 1756 to 1795;
(3) baptisms and burials 1795 to 1812.
There are four printed marriage books: 1754 to 1777, 1777 to 1789, 1789 to 1805, 1805 to 1812.

Adjacent (pre 1832) Parishes

To the east Boldre is bounded by Beaulieu, to the south by the waters of The Solent, to the west is Milford and Hordle. To the north are two separate extra-parochial areas of the New Forest and Brockenhurst. Boldre fully surrounds the parish of Lymington.
