Parish Registers

The History of the County of Somerset: Volume 5 (published 1985), noted above, indicates the parish registers date from 1641, but lack entries for the period 1642-53.
In Philimore's "Somerset Parish Registers: Marriages Volume 12, four early registers with marriage entries are noted.
(1) contains marriages 1641 to 1728, (2) marriages from 1729 to 1811, (3) marriages from 1754 to 1802 and (4) marriages from 1803 to 1812+. It is this designation which is used here.     It is highly likely that the first two volumes contain baptisms and burials as well as marriages, with the latter two reserved for Marriages alone.
