Location

Wednesbury is an ancient parish located in the south of the county of Staffordshire and now a large market town,

Wednesbury is approximately eight miles north west of Birmingham and Dudley in Worcestershire is about four miles to the south west. The cathedral city of Lichfield is approximately 13 miles to the north east and historic county town of Stafford is about twenty miles to the north.

Two Ecclesiastical Parishes had been created out of the ancient parish prior to the 1851 census, namely St James, Wednesbury, and St John, Wednesbury.

Adjacent (Pre 1832) Parishes

To the east of Wednesbury lies Great Barr, formerly a chapelry of Aldridge, with West Bromwich to the south. Tipton and Bilston are to the south west. To the north west was Darlaston and Walsall was to the north east.
