Research Notes

The obituary of Enoch Jones Reavis as published in The Farmers Vindicator names the last three wives of Enoch Jones Reavis and states that he was married 4 times however it does not give the name of his first wife. His daughter Sarah Ellen, born 1855, appears to have been the child of that first marriage. There is a gap of approximately 5 years between her birth and the next child who was born to Enoch J. Reavis and Hannah Cripe. Oddly, however, in the 1910 census of Cedar County, Missouri only 3 marriages are listed for Enoch.

The 1940 death certificate of Sarah Ellen Reavis Landers lists her mother as unknown; however the person who gave the information was aware that her father's name was Enoch indicating that the family was not even aware of her mother's name.
