Anson is listed on the 1840 census in Islip, Suffolk County, New York. It appears he probably had his mother Elizabeth in the household as there are two women, one age 15-20, the other age 50-60 with him.

In 1850, he was in Southold, age 33, with Elizabeth (60), apparently his mother, Elizabeth (27), presumably his sister, and a Thomas (15), presumably the one named as nephew in his will.

Anson wrote his will on 23 Oct 1854 and it was probated 7 Mar 1855. He mentions his mother Elizabeth and nephew Thomas Edward Reeve.
