The History of Orange County, New York gives his full name as David Rose Reeve.

On 19 Jun 1848, "William W. Reeve of the town of Walkill in the County of Orange and State of New York, a brother of David R Reeve, late of said town of Wallkill in said County, deceased," gained administration on David's estate. On 29 Jun 1848, William W. Reeve became guardian to Floyd S. (aged five years on 9 Aug last past) and William H. (aged four years on 18 May last past), children of David R. Reeve. On 29 Mar 1849, Charles S. King became guardian to Harriet E. Reeve (aged three years on 1 Mar instant), daughter of David R. Reeve.

David was buried in New Vernon Cemetery, Sullivan County, New York along with wife Harriet E. Harriet died 10 Mar 1848, age 27.
