Felix was a Colonel in the 8th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry during the Civil War

Felix applied for membership in the SAR under Felix Earnest, his maternal ancestor. In his application, he states:

My grandfather, Jesse Reeve, (who was a native of Virginia) married a Miss Ann Cox of Maryland, who belonged to a large and respectable family of that day, and was related to the Hanson family of that State. Members of both families, I believe, served with distinction in the Maryland line; but whether I am lineally descended from any of them, I have at present no knowledge or information.

Col. Felix Reeve, Civil War Veteran, Dies
Colonel Felix A. Reeve, who has been Assistant Solicitor of the Treasury since the administration of Cleveland, died yesterday at his home, 1626 19th Street Northwest, at the age of eighty-four years. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
Colonel Reeve was in charge of a Civil War regiment recruited by him with the permission of President Lincoln from East Tennessee. He fought with the Union armies throughout the Civil War.
After the war he returned to Knoxville, Tennessee, the place of his former studies in law, where he took up the practice of law. He moved to Washington in 1869, following his marriage to Miss Wilhelmina Donelson Maynard.
President Cleveland appointed him Solicitor of the Treasury, later making him Assistant Solicitor, which position he held until his death. Colonel Reeve had been absent from his duties since nearly a year ago, when he broke his leg in a fall in his office
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at St. Matthew’s Church. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery with full military ceremonies.
