Robert Wesley Reeve was born in Indiana, but lived most of his life in Illinois. His occupations per the US censuses were: Bed springs maker (1880); carpenter and plow works (1900); carpenter for rail road shops (1910); and carpenter for a contractor (1920). His Illinois death record listed his occupation as carpenter.

Robert Wesley Reeve and Henrietta Jordan had seven children, of which one (George) died in infancy:
