Research Notes

There are no records in Carroll County, Arkansas which can be attributed to the fact that all records in the Carroll County Courthouse were destroyed by a fire in 1869. No records, i.e. deed, probate, tax, etc. survived that fire making research of the area almost impossible. The only records available are census and a few other inferential records.

In the 1830 census of Washington County AR, John Reeves is recorded only three households from Simeon Moore, father of Arvazine Moore, future wife of Ambrose Reeves. This gives more credence to the theory that Ambrose may be the currently unidentified son, born c1822, of John Reeves.

Y-DNA results of a descendant of Arvazine and Ambrose's son William Carroll Reeves are a 36 of 37 marker match to two descendants of Green B. Reeves who died in Dripping Springs, Hays County, Texas in 1884. Green B. Reeves descends from William Reeves and Susan Hunter who migrated from the Greenville/Spartanburg counties area of South Carolina to Christian County, Kentucky around 1800. This DNA match may indicate that Ambrose Reeves was also descended from that extended family as well as being related to other matching participants of DNA Group 4.
