From Garrett’s Necrology-Notes on old Dekalb and Fulton County Families
ASBERRY REEVE
Son of James W. Reeve by his first wife and half brother of James M. Reeve. Was born in 1816. He was a farmer and died in Gordon County GA at the old Chandler Place.

Calhoun Times, 24 Mar 1892
Mr. Asbury W. Reeves, one of Gordon County's most respected and honored citizens, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Laura Dillard, Sunday night last, after a brief, but painful illness. In his death his wife loses a devoted husband, and his surviving children a kind father. Mr. Reeves came to Gordon county in 1838 - hence was one among the oldest settlers of the county. He was a Christian gentleman, having from his young manhood been a consistent member of the Missionary Baptist, church for many years filling he office of deacon therein.
He has raised a large family of children, all of whom are respectable, honorable and well to do.
The remains of Mr. Reeves were interred at Chandler cemetery at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning by the Masonic order. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. J. S. Callaway, assisted by Rev. M. A. Matthews, in a beautiful and impressive manner. To the stricken and bereaved family THE TIMES extends great sympathy.
