In an 1847 deed from Mason County, Kentucky, "John Reeves, Samuel Reeves, Arabella Reeves, Nancy Reeves, Austin Reeves & Ellen his wife, children of Austin S. Reeves, late of the County of Monroe and State of Indiana, deceased, and Grandchildren and heirs of Austin Smith Reeves, late of the County of Mason and State of Kentucky Decd" sold their portion of their grandfather's land to John Reeves. In the following deed, John Reeves of Monroe, "guardian of Benjamin Reeves, George Reeves and Nancy Reeves infant children of Austin S. Reeves Junr both of the County and State aforesaid" (Monroe) sold their portion.

The 1830 census of Austin S. Reeve's household shows it as containing 2 males under 5, 3 males 10-15, 1 male 15-19, 1 male 20-29, 1 male 40-40, 2 females 5-9, 1 female 10-15 and 1 female 20-39.

The History of Sangamon County, Illinois contains a biography of another son, Milford O. Reeves, born in 1808.
That biography of M. O. Reeve gives the following information regarding his father Austin Smith Reeves:
M. O. Reeves, Springfield, Illinois, was born in Mason county, Kentucky, on the 14th day of September, 1808, son of Austin and Elizabeth (Dill) Reeves; father of Virginia, and mother a native of Maryland; was married in Mason county, Kentucky, where four sons and four daughters were born, four of which are living at the present writing. In 1820, they moved to Monroe county, Indiana, where he died in 1828; mother died in 1858.

The heirs of Austin S. Reeves are named among the legatees in the distribution of the slaves of his father, Austin Smith Reeves in Mason County in 1842.

Research Notes

The above biography indicates that Austin Smith Reeve only had four sons; however, the 1830 census lists 7 male children in his household and only 3 daughters. The 1830 census also calls into question the 1828 date of death for Austin S. Reeve listed in the above biography for he is recorded in that same 1830 census.
