P 255-256 The First Baptist Church history
''in Nov. 1867 a call was extended to the Rev. David M. Reeves, late of Alabama at a salary of $2000 and the parsonage which he accepted and continued in the pastoral office until the latter part of 1870, when he resigned.
In consequence of imperfect health the Rev. Mr. Reeves was for sometime obliged to be absent, and the pulpit was filled by the Rev. Halsey W. Knopp of New York. His labors were very acceptable and benefited the church.
The Rev. Dr. Reeves afterwards left the Baptist demonination and entered the ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, N.Y. During his ministry at Tarrytown, he was noted for scholarship and fluent eloquences in public speaking. At the time of his resignation, the church had one hundred and seventy-five members.''

Research Note: Identifying David M. Reeves and his family was a joint effort with Anne Burton Washburn, Burton family researcher.
