In the 1870, Upper Brush Creek, Green County, Kentucky census he is listed as a w/m 15 years of age and lives with his father, John Reeves and his step-mother, Margaret White Lee Reeves.

George R Reeves marries c 1878, Catherine Kelly. They have three children together before Catherine dies in 1885. The 1880 census shows them living in Cottonwood, Nance, Nebraska having relocated there from Shoals Martin, Indiana between 1879 and 1880. John and Catherine's first born child was born in Shoals martin, Indiana in 1879.

In 1883, c 30 Dec, Central City Courier-Thursday, 4 Jan 1883, pg. 5, reported that Silas Fouts and Robert Reeves had been arrested last week and charged with assault and battery. It appears the altercation occured when a young boy named Hessing tried to claim straw that Fouts and Reeves also claimed. Fouts and Reeves were fined $5.00 and cost. They appealed their case.

24 Jan 1886, Indiana, U.S., Marriages, 1810-2001 is an entry for the marriage of George R Reeves and Sarah J Wilson. 1900 census for Lone Tree, Merrick, Nebraska list George and Sarah living there with eight children. They are still living in Lone Tree, Merrick, Nebraska in the 1910 census with six children. John and George are not listed and have started their own families. By the 1920 Lone Tree, Merrick, Nebraska census only two children remain in the home of George and Sarah. They are Wayne and Hattie. George is 65 years of age and Sarah is 68. They have been married 34 years, however Sarah dies in 1921.

Grand Island Herald, Grand Island, Nebraska-Thursday, 4 Jan 1923, pg. 5 reports the marriage of George R Reeves, 68 and Mary Ellen Wilson, 62, both of Central City. George and his third wife are recorded in the 1930, Lone Tree, Merrick, Nebraska census as living on the family farm.
