John Reeves is enumerated in the 1850 census, Taylor County, Kentucky as a w/m/ 20 yoa and a laborer living with his parents, John Reeves and Catherine Perry Reeves. He married 15 Dec 1851, Rachel Morrison, in Taylor County, Kentucky.
The 1860 census for Taylor County, Ky list John as a w/m 31 years old and farming. Rachel and children are listed on the census as well. John becomes a widower after the death of Rachel, 4 Aug 1860. The 1860 census was taken in June of that year. Rachel gave birth to Harriett Morrison Reeves after June of 1860 because Harriett is not listed as a child. It is a strong possibility that Rachel Morrison Reeves may have died giving birth to this child.
John marries 29 Jul 1861, Sarah Srygler in Kentucky. They have a child, Fielding W Reeves, born in 1862. John becomes a widower once again.
John marries for the third time, 10 Jun 1863, Margaret White Lee, in Green County, Kentucky. The obituary for Margaret White Lee Reeves printed in the Central City Nonpareil Thursday, 17 Apr 1919, pg.1, gives the date of marriage, date of death for her and John, who preceded her.
1870 census list John and Margaret with their children living in Upper Brush Creek, Green County, Kentucky. Margaret's step-son, George Reeves is shown on this census.
1882 John moves his family to Merrick county, Nebraska. An article appearing in the Central City Nonpareil, 17 Apr 1919, titled Death Calls Aged Lady makes this statement," Mrs. Reeves had been a resident of Merrick county for thirty-two years, coming here from Kentucky with her husband and locating on the farm in the Warm Slough neighborhood, having purchased it before coming to this county." U.S., Indexed County Ownership Maps, 1860-1919 shows this property West of Platte River and East of Union Pacific Railroad Tracks. The map also shows George R Reeves owning land Southwest of the tracks.
