Milton M. Reeves, a member of the well known manufacturing firm of Reeves & Co., of this city, died at his home on Fifth and Sycamore streets, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, surrounded by his family, three brothers and one sister, and a number of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Reeves was born in Rush county, Ind., June 25, 1842, and in September, 1865, was married to Miss Jennie Kirkpatrick, who with three children, one son and two daughters, survive him.
Soon after his marriage he settled in Knightstown, Rush county, Ind., in the mercantile business, and a few years later he moved with his family to Kokomo, where he remained until 1880, when he removed to this city to engage in the manufacturing business, where he has lived continuously since.
He was a man of great industry and energy, and by his unquestionable integrity in all his business relations, and his well-known character for honestly, as well as that of the firm with which he was associated, he contributed no little to the success and splendid business standing of that establishment.
He was in the Union army during the last civil war and has an honorable record as a soldier. He was a member of Columbus Lodge, No. 58, I. O. O. F., and has filled all the offices therein with credit; and his remains will be accompanied to the grave by the brotherhood.
In 1880 he united with the Christian church at Columbus, Ind., and has since lived in consistent Christian life. He was punctual and conscientous in the discharge of all his Christian duties and was of a charitable and benevolent disposition. He gave freely to all religious and benevolent purposes and was a strong support to the church, the Sunday school and the missionary cause. He was an exemplary citizen and he will be greatly missed by those with whom he has been most intimately associated. Of no man can it be more truly said that he was an honorable, Christian gentleman.
