Robert appeared in Pike County, Georgia, in the 1840 census and in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, in the 1850 census. In Tallapoosa County, Alabama, he was living near the family of Lemuel Rogers (enumerated in HH 227/227), also from Pike County, Georgia; the Rogers family soon returned to Pike County, where Lemuel Rogers, Jr., married Elizabeth Reeves, probable daughter of Elisha Reeves.
