Narrative
Sarah Clementine Reeves was known as Clementine or Clem in the family and was born 26 October, 1854, in Franklin County, Arkansas. Clem's mother died when she was an infant, but Clem inherited a small piece of land with her sisters that had belonged to her grandfather, Joseph Kimberling.Her family having moved back to Illinois, most likely during the Civil War, Clem married Josiah Herrick "Doc" Carroll 16 December, 1869, in Fayette County, Illinois. To this marriage was born one daughter, Mary Viola Carroll.

- Mary Viola Carroll b. 13 April, 1871 m. Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Andrews
"Doc" Carroll died in 1872, and Clem left infant daughter Mary with her Carroll grandmother and other paternal relations on their farm. During this time Clem worked as a cook in a restaurant in Vandalia, Illinois, which was several miles away from the Carroll farm. Mary was raised by her Carroll relations as Clem's second husband didn't wish Mary to live with them.
Subsequently Clem married Frank Green on 21 August, 1873 in Vandalia, Illinois, with whom she had four children:

Clem died before May, 1889, probably in Hutton Township, Coles County, Illinois. Her second husband, Frank Green, remarried in Coles County, Illinois, at that time.
