Spencer Reeves is recorded as receiving land grants in Washington and Richmond Counties of Georgia in 1784-85. Spencer received a grant for 100 acres on Brier Creek in Richmond County in 1786. The grant refers to Spencer receiving the grant for doing his duty in the total expulsion of the British from the state. One of the grants was for 287 1/2 acres which he leased and then sold, possibly while living in Greene County. John Reeves, probably Spencer's brother, also received land grants in Washington County at that time and several later grants (circa 1800) in Columbia County. Thomas Reeve and Sarah Reeve received bounty land warrants in 1784 and 1787 respectively. Sarah's tract was adjacent to Spencer's.

In 1790, The Augusta Chronicle reported under presentments from the Richmond County Superior Court, Aug Term 1790: "We recommend that Spencer Reeves be exonerated from paying his poll-tax."

According to Georgia Revolutionary War soldiers' graves vol 2, Spencer served in the Georgia Troops under Colonel Benjamin Few.

The 1820 census of Columbia County, Georgia lists Spencer Reeves' household with 4 males ‹10, 1 male ›45, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 16-25 and 1 female 26-44.

On 6 Jul 1822 a deed from Spencer Reeves to William Luckey, for $5, for 3 acres in Columbia County is described as the southwest corner of two tracts of land, the one granted Spencer Reeves on 15 March 1787 and "the other granted to Sarah his mother on the 14th day of October 1787." The land is described as lying on a small branch running between the lands of said Reeves and Luckey. (DB Y, p548)
