Narrative

Known as Harry, Walter Harry Reeves was the tenth known child eleventh of thirteen children of Samuel and Matilda. He was married twice and there is no known issue.

He appears on the 1901 & 1911 census as a member of his father Samuel's household at 14 Longcroft Street, Southampton.

He married first Hilda Alice ROSE at the Parish Church of St Mary Southampton on 1 September 1923, being widowed in 1946.

He married second Joan M WITT, their marriage appearing in the 3q 1947 GRO marriage index

He was a butcher by trade, living and working in the Shirley area of Southampton.

He died in Southampton aged 69.

Research Notes

(1) Oral family tradition, confirmed by the release of the 1911 census in 2012, indicated that Samuel and Matilda had thirteen children. However, prior to November 2016 the identities of only twelve children were known to family researchers. It transpires the missing child, now known to be Ellen Matilda Reeves, was their eldest. This has necessitated the renumbering the remaining 12 children.
