Walter William Reeves was a loving father and grandfather who spent much of his life in Newton County, Mississippi, though the family also spent some time in Louisiana. By the time he was an adult, he was able to read and write per census records. He completed schooling through the 9th grade. He spent at least some of his earlier years as a log hauler, and later became a farmer. His wife Ruby died at age 45 from respiratory failure due to a brain tumor. He died in Newton County at the age of 92.

Research Notes

1910 census - Had recently attended school but responded that he could not read or write
1920 census - Had not attended school since 1 Sept 1919, but could read and write. Also did not list an occupation
1930 census - His own family was well established (married at age 19). They did not live on a farm, and his occupation was log hauler. Based on the location of their children's birth, they had likely moved back and forth between Louisiana and Mississippi.
1940 census - Indicates that he had completed schooling through the 9th grade, and was working as a farmer.
