William remarried in 1869. The record states: "W P Richardson son of M Richardson & Sarah Richardson & Mary Starnes Daughter of James Bailey & Mary Bailey married March 7th 1869."

The estate file for William states that "on or about the (blank) day of June 1875 William P. Richardson late of said County of Union departed this life in said County intestate leaving him surviving his widow Mary Richardson and the following children his heirs at law viz - your peitioner William Richardson and the defendants Elizabeth Starnes intermarried with the defendant Thomas Starnes, Sarah Hale intermarried with defendant Hosea Hale, Jane Richardson intermarried with defendant Mason C. Richardson, James M. Richardson, and Israel C. Richardson. That since the death of the said Wm. P. Richardson on or about the day of (blank) 1875 the said Israel C. Richardson also died in said County intestate and without issue and unmarried, leaving your petitioner and the defendants his brothers and sisters his heirs at law."
