The placement as son of Elijah is based on family knowledge and circumstantial evidence. He was living next door to Elijah in 1850, under the name Joseph. Elijah was living with him in 1860.
Lynnville, Tennesee Death records show Joe Reeves died 24 March 1911, not 10 Jan. Says he was born in Maury County.
The following appears to be a death notice for the daughter listed as Emily on the census:
The Weekly Columbia Herald, 11 Dec 1891
DIED IN PULASKI
Miss Emma Rieves, daughter of Mr. Joe Rieves, of Pulaski, died in that town, at the residence of her father, last Friday morning, after a lingering illness with consumption. The remains were brought to Columbia last Saturday morning, and carried to the old family burying ground near Morgan's Mill, for interment. Mr. Rieves lived formerly in Maury County, and has many friends here who will regret to hear of this bereavement.
