CLAUDIUS GREEN RIVES
Claudius Green Rives, 57, owner and Operator of the Panama City Lumber Company and a native of Collirene, Lowndes County, died suddenly at his home in Panama City at 1 a.m. Friday and will be buried at Collirene on Sunday at 1 p.m. Short funeral services will be held at Panama City prior to the departure of the family and friends, bringing the body back to Lowndes County.
Reared in Lowndes, Mr. Rives had a wide family connection and many friends in this section. He attended the public schools of the community and Alabama Polytechnic Institute, Auburn. For some time past he had successfully engaged in the lumber business with his sons, LeGrande Rives, Rudulph Rives, Billy Rives and C. G. Rives, Jr.
Surviving also are his wife, Mrs. Pear McLendon Rives and two daughters, Mrs. Jimmie Ferguson and Mrs. Billy Johnson, both of Birmingham; and three brothers, G. W. Rives of Collirene ana Selma, where he conducts the Rives Appliance. R. P. Rives and M. G. Rives, Collirene. Jere Hardy is a brother-in-law. Funeral services will be attended by a number of friends and relatives from this area.
