George Edward Rives was born in Chatham county, North Carolina, and makes his home at Goldston, N. C. He taught school for thirteen years ; but, for the past eighteen years, has been in the employ of the Atlantic & Yadkin Railway Co. As a volunteer during the Spanish-American War he was a member of Co. A, 2nd N. C. Regt. Mr. Rives, who has served as town commissioner of Goldston for six years, has been of very helpful assistance in the preparation of the record of his great-grandfather's family.
