FUNERAL SERVICE HELD YESTERDAY FOR JAMES RIVES
Mansfield, March 10 (Special). - Funeral services for James H. Rives, 70 years old, who died at his home here at 9:30 Saturday night, held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Mansfield cemetery. The services were conducted from the family residence by the Rev. R. M. McGehee.
Rives, who was one of Mansfield’s oldest and most outstanding citizens, had been in poor health for the past year, and his death was not unexpected. He was the son of Judson C. Rives, one of the first settlers of DeSoto parish, and the family has figured prominently in the history of the parish.
Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Miss Fannie Rives and Miss Sara Rives, both of Mansfield, and two sons, Frank Rives, a planter of Mer Rouge, and Dr. James D. Rives of New Orleans. He is also survived by one brother, Judson C. Rives of California, and two sisters, Miss Fannie Rives and Mrs. W. R. Hewitt, both of Mansfield.
